  • Trauma

Complex trauma occurs when we experience repeated traumatic events over a long time. This can result in emotional dysregulation, a distorted sense of self, and challenging interpersonal relationships. My approach to treating complex trauma is to first help you better understand emotion and its role in our lives. Provide tools to manage big emotions and help you feel more in control. The second part is to help you unravel the thoughts and feelings associated with your trauma. We can’t change the past, but we can change the way we hold on to the past memories. Together we can change previous maladaptive behaviours into more adaptive ones.

  • Anxiety & Depression

My approach to treating anxiety and depression is to split treatment into two parts. The first is psychoeducation, helping you understand what anxiety and/or depression are, why we have it, and what is happening in the body. One of the most challenging things is that we often don't notice our feelings until it's too overwhelming. I work to help my clients recognize the early signs of distress so that they can use tools to manage it before it becomes overwhelming. While this is very important in symptom management, the second part is even more critical. Helping clients understand the source of their feelings so they can change the patterns of thinking and feeling that lead to anxiety and/or depression.

  • Neurodivergence

Neurodivergence, including but not limited to ADHD and ASD, is one of the most misunderstood areas of mental health. Many people feel something is fundamentally wrong because they can’t do things like others do. They are always procrastinating, impulsive, can’t keep their house organized, start projects without finishing them, are unsatisfied at work, unable to keep the same job for a long time, or don’t understand why they are so lazy and let others down. They view their social world differently and struggle to understand other people’s reactions to them. These feelings can lead to a poor self-image and depression. My approach to Neurodivergence is to help you understand your diagnosis and the underlying biological causes if known. I want to help clients lift the burden and guilt associated with some of the symptoms of their neurodivergence. My goal is never to stamp out what makes you unique rather to help you identify barriers and create strategies and solutions to overcome obstacles.

  • Infertility & Reproductive Health

As someone who struggles with infertility & endometriosis, this is a topic that I understand personally. Infertility can make you feel completely alone and isolated. It's hard to talk to friends or family because they do not understand and often say unhelpful and hurtful things. My goal is to create a safe place for you to talk about your infertility journey. I want you to understand that your experience and feelings are valid. I'm here to help and support you whether you are just looking for a sympathetic ear, need help to understand all the steps involved in infertility or are figuring out what comes next for you. You don't have to go it alone.
